Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat chronic sinusitis and improve sinus drainage. This technique utilizes a small, flexible balloon catheter that is inserted into the sinus passageways through the nostrils.

During Balloon Sinuplasty, the balloon catheter is guided into the blocked sinus passage. Once in place, the balloon is gently inflated to widen the sinus openings, allowing for better drainage and airflow. The balloon is then deflated and removed, leaving the sinuses open without the need for tissue removal.

Balloon Sinuplasty is suitable for patients with chronic sinusitis who have not responded to medical treatments. It is particularly beneficial for those with less severe anatomical obstructions, providing relief from symptoms such as nasal congestion, facial pain, and recurrent sinus infections.

The primary benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty include minimal discomfort, a lower risk of complications, and a quicker recovery time compared to traditional sinus surgery. This procedure preserves the natural tissue and mucous membranes, reducing the likelihood of postoperative bleeding and scarring. However, potential risks include infection, minor bleeding, and, in rare cases, injury to the surrounding structures.
